ROCKS IN MY MOUTH

One of my favorite series of pieces from 2014 was this group of GIFs, selfies taken with an open mouth to reveal the chiseled edge of a revolving polygon. My soft insides made hard like rock candy armor. The images are vulnerably aggressive and revealingly hidden.

They  were made entirely on my phone. My little high tech finger paintings. This means of production, this medium, bares the dual message nicely as well. An intimate object, kept on my body, this hand tool, makes the feed, fills the public platform/appetite. The chefs sweat in the sauce. And especially if you are chewing this on your phone, becomes intimate again in your hands. We are fingertip to fingertip, lip to lip.
